摘要 An image reading device 1 is provided with: a lighting module 8 provided with a point light source PLS and a first optical element OC1; a linear light actuator; and a second optical element OC2. The point light source PLS irradiates a reading area with light when reading a medium P that is mounted on a mounting surface. The first optical element OC1 changes the light from the point light source PLS into linear light that is linear in a main scanning direction. The linear light actuator causes the lighting module 8 to rotate around a rotational axis that is parallel to the main scanning direction and moves the linear light relative to the mounting surface having the medium P mounted thereon in a sub-scanning direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction. The second optical element OC2 is fixed between the lighting module 8 and the mounting surface. The linear light passes through said second optical element OC2 in the rotation range of the lighting module 8 by the linear light actuator. Variation in the optical characteristics of the linear light passing through the second optical element OC2 in the main scanning direction caused by rotation of the lighting module 8 is minimized by the second optical element OC2.
