A traffic control method and apparatus. The traffic control method comprises: counting the number of speed-limited users in on-line users of an access device and a real-time traffic rate of each of the on-line users; judging whether the number of the speed-limited users is greater than a first threshold value; in the case where the number of the speed-limited users is not greater than the first threshold value, judging whether a total real-time traffic rate of all the on-line users is greater than a second threshold value; and if the total real-time traffic rate is greater than the second threshold value, limiting a speed of a speed-unlimited user with a maximum real-time traffic rate in the on-line users. The above-mentioned technical solution can enable all the on-line users to make full use of a total bandwidth of an access device, thereby improving user experience. |
