The object of the invention is a waste-removal system, in particular for a timber-splitting machine. A splitting position H, located in the timber-splitting machine, comprises at least partially a frame 1, splitting members 2 and feed members 4. The timber 3 which lies in the basically horizontal frame 1 is arranged to be split by being thrust against the splitting members 2 by the feed members 4. The split timber pieces 3' are arranged to be removed via a discharge point P which is connected to the timber-splitting machine. The timber-splitting machine's waste-removal system for the waste material 6, such as shavings, splinters etc. arising from the processing of the timber 3, is designed to carry the waste material 6, at least partially by means of the feed members 4, away from the splitting position H. In order at least to reduce the amount of waste material taken to the discharge point P for the split timber pieces 3', the waste-removal system R is designed to remove the waste material 6 from at least one removal point X, essentially separate from the discharge point P. <IMAGE>
