The tape recorder comprises a loading motor; a first worm gear supported to a shaft of the loading motor and mounted in the bottom part of a deck; a first helical gear driving a loading unit placed in a apart from the loading motor; a rotation shaft coincided with a second helical gear and a second worm gear which are engaged with the first worm gear and the first helical gear, the rotation shaft being moved and slided by a bracket; and a detecting unit for detecting overload of the loading motor by contact of both rotation shafts.
