<p>The present invention provides a printing apparatus (9) equipped with inexpensive, scaled-down, lightweight recognition and setting functions. The printing apparatus (9) is capable of setting desired modes of printing, adjustment, etc. by referring to a mode selection menu sheet (8), in which setting items (IT1-IT7), mode options (C) for each setting item (IT), and a plurality of marks (M) specifying a mode are listed.
