[Class 23] [See also Group VI] A rotary high speed clarifier for beer or the like is of the usual conical plate type adapted for working with liquid under pressure, and comprises a revoluble bowl 1 supported by a vertical spindle 2 running in bearings 3 and 4. The spindle is hollow, and conveys liquid from a supply connection 5 to the inlet duct 6 of the bowl. The central pillar 7 in the bowl is hollowed out at 8 to allow clarified liquid to pass from the bowl through a delivery nozzle 9 to a delivery connection 10. Between the supply connection 5 and the lower end of the spindle, and between the delivery connection 10 and the nozzle 9, hydraulic packings 11, 12 respectively are provided to maintain tight joints between the revoluble and stationary parts.
