PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical module for simply performing alignment between a receptacle on a substrate and photoelectric conversion elements.SOLUTION: There is provided an optical module that comprises: photoelectric conversion elements 21; a receptacle 30 provided with guide portions which position an optical connector ferrule for retaining an end of optical fibers; and a substrate 20 electrically joined to the photoelectric conversion elements 21. A method of manufacturing the optical module includes the steps of: housing the photoelectric conversion elements 21 in element housing parts 32, while the receptacle 30 being provided with the element housing parts 32 fitting to an outer shape of the photoelectric conversion elements 21; fixing the photoelectric conversion elements 21 to the receptacle 30; and electrically joining the photoelectric conversion elements 21 fixed in the receptacle 30 to the substrate 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
