The invention concerns a telecommunication network between network terminations or user terminals, on the one hand, and one or a plurality of service-specific networks or optional service provider devices, on the other. The network comprises transmission, multiplexing and crossconnect functions and functions permitting branching to various networks. The invention provides a telecommunication network between user devices and service devices which is independent of the services, end terminals and networks connected. A network of this type comprises, at the network end, access nodes with various interfaces for optional interactive synchronous and synchronous types of service. The techniques of synchronous digital hierarchy are used. A transmission technique is used which enables synchronous and asynchronous data streams to be transmitted. |
