The air-conditioner has a motor (1) driving a fan that draws in air and pushes it through refrigerated conduits (2) for cooling before delivery into the interior of a vehicle or into a room. The conduits follow a serpentine path in a vessel (3) containing a non-volatile refrigerant liquid (4). The cooled air is expelled from an outlet (7). The metal walls (5) of the vessel are cooled by tubes containing freon refrigerated by a conventional compressor. The degree of cooling is determined by the length of the conduit passing through the refrigerant liquid, and will normally be between 5 and 15 deg.
