Proteins and glycoproteins of the HIV-2 EHO retrovirus antiobodies directed against them - application for the diagnosis

The invention concerns a purified antigen of the human HIV-2 EHO retrovirus or part of said antigen or an antigen having the same immunological properties, characterised in that it is constituted by the envelope glycoprotein of HIV-2 EHO or a glycoprotein of a variant thereof, providing it is recognized by human HIV-2 positive serum by immunoprecipitation assay or western blot assay and it is not recognized by antibodies directed against the glycoprotein gp300 of HIV-2 ROD by immunoprecipitation assay or western blot assay, in the same conditions. It also provides antibodies against these antigens and means for the diagnosis of an infection due to HIV-2 EHO or a related HIV-2 isolate.
