FIELD: electric engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves use of rectangular currents with both constant and varying sign in different periods of fusion. Any electrode of arc furnace may be used as arc-less anode (by contacting mix), other electrodes carry arc in this case. Function of arc-less anode is distributed between electrodes during process. Arc is supplied by rectangular current of low frequency . This results in increased power that introduced into arc because voltage of arc is also rectangular and inductive losses in current supply are decreased . Alternating operations of electrodes as connector of mix to anode of power supply provide fusion of mix by direct current in standard furnace without install of expensive and complex hearth electrodes. Reverse polarity operations are provided (metal-cathode or electrode-anode). Proposed method has greatest efficiency for upgrade of arc furnaces of low and middle power. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. |
