FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to equipment meant for accumulation of energy of high-frequency electromagnetic field in open cavity resonators, predominantly dielectric ones, and may find use in formation of superpowerful, supershort pulse radiations. Method lies in excitation of electromagnetic wave in axially symmetric half-wave layers of cavity of medium with axial focusing radial distribution of phase velocity, for instance with constant value of radial gradient of phase velocity. Waves of higher type are excited during accumulation. Energy is fed distributedly in cavity of half-wave layers. Realization of method makes it possible to raise external merit factor practically to infinity, to increase merit factor of accumulation to inherent merit factor, to enhanced amplitude of accumulated energy during abruptly nonstationary process of accumulation which helps to raise substantially efficiency of energy accumulation. EFFECT: raised external merit factor, substantially increased efficiency of energy accumulation. |
