The present invention provides a method of decreasing the biological effects of Tumor Necrosis Factor comprising the step of inhibiting the activation of NF-kB transcription factor. Also provided is a method of treating a pathophysiological state characterized by an undesirable physiological level of Tumor Necrosis Factor comprising the step of administering a pharmacologically effective dose of the pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 to a human. Pharmaceutical compositions for use in the methods of the present invention are also provided.
