The assembly makes use of metal tubes (D,F,G,H,L) which are able to slide relative to one another and lock by treated surfaces. The seat, base, back and arm-rests of the bed-settee all have tubular metal frames which are folded and bent to the required shape so that they are neat and do not retain water used to clean them, and are easy to paint. It incorporates a mechanism for raising the back and setting its edge over the seat, minimising the depth of the seat and making it more comfortable. An elastic cord (W) attached to the cover (Q) or metal frame keeps it neat and holds the cover inside the fold when the back is raised.
