Optical beam acquisition and tracking method esp. for inter-satellite communication

The method involves performing phase acquisition by analysing a CCD detector field to obtain an approximation of the target image acquired in the field. A tracking window is defined around the image position and has several field lines with several pixels. During phase tracking, charges contained in a phase shift register are evacuated until lines containing the tracking window are accessed. The lines containing the tracking window are read once and the charges stored in a read register are evacuated. The tracking window can be positioned at a higher frequency by using the acquisition frequency within the tracking window image position.
