A device for making sanitary articles widthwise, the largest dimension of the article being at an angle of 45-135 DEG to the feed direction of the machine, whereby high production rates may be achieved and handling of the supplied raw materials may be substantially reduced. Said device enables the size of the machine to be considerably reduced, resulting in savings of space (a "compact" machine). The device is particularly suitable for making feminine protection articles and sanitary articles for children and adults.
