摘要 The chemical cooling of a hot gas stream, partic, a hot synthesis gas stream, at temp. above 900 deg C involves the direct injection of at least one gaseous or liq. hydrocarbon and opt. water and/or carbon dioxide into the stream. A process for increasing the efficiency of electricity prodn. using synthesis gas stream from a gasifier involves the above cooling prior to feeding the stream to a generating appts. A process for prodn. of electrical current using a synthesis gas stream involves the above controlled cooling to accommodate peaks in the electricity demand and increased efficiency in power prodn. The cooling is carried out in combination with the recirculation of already cooled synthesis gas or with physical cooling with a gaseous hydrocarbon, water or carbon dioxide stream.
