Camera zoom lens system

The zoom lens system for a compact camera has a first lens group with a positive focal length and a second lens group with a negative focal length. The zoom process is achieved by varying the distance between these two groups of lenses. The first lens group, beginning from the objective side, forms a sub-group with reduced refractive power and consists of a condensing first lens and a divergent second lens, and a sub-group of greater refractive power with a cemented on surface of negative refractive power on the image side.
