Equipment for the prodn. and feeding of large dia. aluminium foil closure caps with preformed rims on container capping machines, using at least two cap forming stations (3,4) each equipped with a cap feed channel (5,6), which are joined at a junction (7) and followed by a further cap feed channel (8) terminating at a cap transfer to the container capping elements. Signals from sensors (a-k) positioned on the feed channels (5,6,8) before and after the junction (7) are able to control the output of the cap forming stations (3,4) and the operation of cap holding units on the feed channels (5,6) before the junction (7), such that the area of the junction (7) is always clear of caps.
