One end of the reinforcing sheet (7) bridging the gap between the endwall (6) of the angle piece (5), and the stringer (1), is welded to the underside of the stringer, as against the far end of the sheet, which is welded to the underside of the axle cross-beam (2). The sheet edges lying in the longitudinal sense of the vehicle are each bent downwards (8,9), and the sheet also has a transverse step (10). Sheet, cross-beam and angle have a welding aperture (11). The floor plate is welded to the outward flange (3,4) of the cross-beam, the sheet edged downwards at both ends for welding to the beam and stringer. The step (10) in the sheet compensates for the difference in height across the stringer, using the weld aperture to complete the respective weldments.
