The earring or other jewellery item is in two parts (1,2) connected together at their second ends (1b,2b) by a hinge (3). The first part has at its second end a wall (7) perpendicular to the circumferential direction of the earring body and having a first opening (5). The second part has, at its second end (2b) radially to the hinge at a distance, a pin (4) which, when the first ends (1a,2a) of the two parts are closest, extends through the first opening so that it resiliently adjoins the wall of same. The pin has a grooved recesses (8) whose width matches the thickness of the wall so that the wall engages in the recess. The two parts are preferably hollow bodies, and the wall forms the end side closure of the first part at its second end.
