Bulk objects are taken from a hopper (1) and aligned singly. Objects are carried from the base of the hopper (1) on an elevator (2a) which feeds them into an arrangement of rotating cylinders (3). The first cylinder (4) aligns the objects while the second (5), which has a smaller dia., separates them and delivers them onto a conveyor belt (6). The speed of the elevator can be adjusted w.r.t. the space between successive objects downstream of the elevator, as measured by a detector (7).
