The invention relates to a device making it possible automatically to carry out this manoeuvre with the aid of an electric motor powered by the battery of the tractor, which can be started up only with the aid of one and the same key which actuates the cut off of the battery and the "raise/lower" switch for the landing gear. It consists of an electric motor (1) connected to the tractor by a key-operated circuit-breaker (2) which is started up, with the same key, with the aid of a switch (3) which brings about the raising or lowering of the landing gear (4). The connection between the electric motor (1) and the landing gear (4) is provided with the aid of pinions (5) inserted in a casing (6) filled with grease and connected to the box of pinions (8) of the landing gear. Furthermore, the driving of the pinions (5) may be disengaged with the aid of a knob (7) placing the system in "neutral".
