The invention relates to an assembly for absorbing impact energy (10) intended for connecting a chassis (12) and a bumper (14) of a motor vehicle, said assembly including a longitudinal deformable hollow body (16) made of a composite material having two opposing ends, and two linking members (38, 46; 58, 62) for connecting each of said two opposing ends to said chassis (12) and to said bumper (14), respectively, while said deformable hollow body (16) extends freely in a longitudinal direction of said motor vehicle, between said chassis and said bumper. At least one of said two opposing ends of said deformable hollow body (16) has an axial opening defining an edge (26; 28) forming a skirt; and one of said two linking members (38, 46; 58, 62) includes at least two coaxial parts (38, 46; 58, 62) suitable for clamping coaxially around said edge (26; 28). |
