A method for subjecting air that contains ammonia such as from a stable and needs to be purified to a scrubbing treatment, wherein - in a first stage the air containing ammonia is contacted with an acid to result in air reduced in ammonia content, and - in a second stage the air reduced in ammonia content is passed through a device for the removal of acid entrained in the air reduced in ammonia content. To impede biofilm formation in the second stage, the air reduced in ammonia content obtained from the first step is subjected to activated reactive oxygen species before said air reduced in ammonia content has passed the second stage. |
