The pedestal has a flat dry surface onto which stools fall for examination, before they are flushed away. A paper liner is shaped to cover the flat area and has maximum and minimum dimensions of 32 and 36 cm. The user places the liner on the flat area inside the pedestal. During bowel evacuation, the stools fall onto the liner. After they have been examined, the liner together with the stools are flushed into the drainpipe.
