Steering column for passenger motor cars

The steering column has two telescopic sections (2,3) with longitudinally profiled surfaces, e.g. a tooth profile (4,5) for a relative movement. Spring elements on one section engage into the profiles in the other one. One section has a groove at right angles to its surface, to fix the spring element. This consists of an open friction spring ring (7). The ring circumference has a number of longitudinal curved webs (8), which engage into the profiles in the other section. The groove is formed in the overlapped part of the first steering column section.
