The method involves forming an impression (4) in a mattress (3), to receive the subject in a nocturnal position. The impression conforms precisely with the body, over sufficient depth for retention in optimal horizontal and vertical position. Contact pressure is homogeneously distributed. - Deformations resulting from momentary positional changes are absorbed in a fully reversible manner. These movements result from spastic reflex or simple changes in position for comfort. The corrected position is automatically re-established.
