Mixed cable with both optical fibres and copper conductors

The cable has a bundle of optic fibres passing axially along the centre of the cable, enclosed in a tubular sleeve (4). This sleeve is enclosed in a thicker outer insulating tubular sleeve. Two electrical conductors (5) are embedded in the outer insulating sleeve. The conductors are placed diametrically opposite each other. A reinforcing fibre (7) of a non-metallic material is laid adjacent to and parallel to each conductor. This fibre has a coefficient of thermal expansion less than that of the conductor, and reduces the overall thermal expansion of the cable. Each electrical conductor is enclosed by a coloured sheath (6).
