The taximeter has a front cover with a display screen and control buttons, and a rear cover or base (20) with a plate (16) attached to the rear cover or base. The plate is stamped with certification makes when the taximeter is inspected by the regulatory authorities or after repair. The plate is attached to the taximeter case by a flat plate (18) reinforced by a cylindrical rod (22) under the plate. The plate and the cylindrical rod are moulded integrally from plastic. The plate is perpendicular to the taximeter case and to the stamping plate. The plate is positioned to transfer the impact energy when the plate is stamped to the base of the taximeter case.
