Two head cutter for turning operations

The cutter (10) is an indexable insert which fits into the tool mounting of a cutter head (1). The insert has a flat front face and is positioned in a slot recess (4) which is open at the edge of the cutter head. The insert is removably clamped by a clamp system acting on the face of the insert. A positioning element (20) is provided on the insert which has a projecting contour which fits into a mating contour in a seat in the recess in the cutter head. When the positioning element seats in the cutter head, no play is possible at the mating faces. A wedge shaped support (25) is then screwed down into the slot in the cutter head which pushes the insert against the seat.
