The unit is mounted in and/or on a treatment instrument (1) which is close to the point of treatment. The image acquisition device is connected to an image processing and reproduction device via a data line (8). The image acquisition device is attached to the treatment instrument by a clip or snap fitting (11). The image acquisition unit may include a microlens with an associated glass fibre connection arrangement.
