An indicator for the position of a sliding clasp fastener, designed to show when a bag or article of clothing is not fully closed, consists of a clamp (16) which attaches to one side of the fastener close to its end point and designed to interact with the slider (C) when the fastener is closed. The clamp is connected by a wire to an alarm (1) - visual, sound or vibration - which is set off by a push-button switch (9) when the fastener is opened and is stopped only when the fastener is fully closed again.
