A method and an apparatus for memorizing and searching a recording position are disclosed. The method comprises a recording position memorizing process and a recording position searching process. When a recording position memorizing key is operated by a user, a present tape number is stored, and then the tape is rewound to an initial position. At this time, a control pulse is counted, and the counted value at the initial position is stored. In case that a recording position searching key is operated and a present tape number is selected, the counted value of the selected tape number is searched, and then the control pulse is counted while the tape is winding. The winding proceeds until the searched counted value is equal to the preset counted value.
