FIELD: environment control. SUBSTANCE: according to method, wastes are mixed with calcium oxide or carbonate. Deposit is held at pH 12 during at least 2 h for raising temperature of mix to preset level in closed chamber during determined period of time. Device for realizing aforesaid method has deposit mixing chamber and means for mixing. Heating elements ensure delivery of additional heat to residue. Preset level of residue pH is adjusted by means of instruments so as to change pH. Aforesaid method ensures reduction in level of content of pathogenic microorganisms in wastes in compliance with existing regulations and makes process more economical.
