A seal can be made in a weak joint between a control cluster mechanism and an adaptor (9) in a nuclear reactor. The original joint is cut out and the mechanism is dismantled from the adapter. The part of the joint (21) situated on the adapter is removed. A lip (22) with an annular shape is formed on the lower part of the mechanism. An annular shaped component is fixed to the adapter (9) and the joint reassembled, the lip (22) and the annular shaped component forming a seal.
