Analysis of a network of geological faults to form a structural model

Equipment for placing in a work station (40) connected to a number of seismic sources containing information representing a number of faults (15) in the ground to determine the geological relationship of those faults which intersect. The device includes a first means of determining if a pair of faults from amongst the number are connected, a second means of determining which of a pair of faults is the major fault and which the minor one and a third means of determining whether the minor fault crosses the major fault starting above or below it. (The minor fault stops below the major fault when it crosses from above and vice versa.) Process for using the above equipment. Device comprising means of remembering instructions which can be executed by a processor at a work station which knows seismic data about a number of faults in a formation and which will carry out the above process.
