Modular element allowing at least one balanced or other chemical reaction to occur in the presence of a catalyst, comprising at least one zone where the reaction takes place, with a central body (11) in which is found the catalyst (22); means (21) for introducing at least one fluid containing at least the reactants, into the central body and pass it through the catalyst; one or more passages (18) taking the fluid after it has reacted and emerged from the catalyst, to a zone outside the central zone; and one or more passages (17) allowing circulation of at least one fluid from outside the body.
