LOW-SMOKING HALOGEN-CONTAINING RESIN COMPOSITION AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition which produces little smoke when burnt by mixing a halogen-containing resin with an iron-containing aluminosilicate. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. halogen-containing resin such as a polyvinyl chloride resin, 2-30 pts.wt. iron-containing aluminosilicate and other additives. This aluminosilicate is obtained by bringing an aluminosilicate (e.g. crystalline zeolite) into contact with a solution containing ferrous ions of e.g. ferrous chloride in air to impregnate the aluminosilicate with an iron compound (e.g. iron hydroxide) and is represented by the formula: aM2/x O.bFe2/y O.Al2 O3 .cSiO2 .dH2 O (wherein x is the valence of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal M; a is the number of moles of M2/x and is 0-1.2; y is the valence of Fe; b is the number of moles of Fe2/y and is 0.5-2; c is the number of moles of SiO2 and is 1.5-5; and d is the number of moles of H2 O and is 0-20). It has a surface-area-average particle diameter of 0.5-10μm. The surface-area average particle diameter d is determined from the surface area determined according to the equation (wherein p is the specific gravity of a zeolite particle; and d is the particle diameter).
