PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of diagnosing degree of deterioration in which the degree of deterioration can be diagnosed even to an existing equipment without stopping the operation. SOLUTION: A deterioration degree measuring device adapting this method has a deterioration degree arithmetic part 1, the standard reflected light quantities I1, I2 and reflected light quantities I1', I2' determined by giving an illuminating light to a sub-white plate 4 and a matter to be measured 11 through illuminating light optical fiber 9 from each light source device 2, 3 are used to calculate the reflection absorptivity differenceΔAλin each wavelength, and a comparative calculating is performed on the basis of the relation between the calculated values and the degree of deterioration of the matter to be measured. The light source device which finally emits a light in the previous measurement position is used as a light source device for emitting a light first in the next measuring position, whereby the measurement dispersion accompanied by the change of measuring position is suppressed.
