The invention relates to thermosensitive recording paper wherein the heat-sensitive coating is covered by a pigmented protective coating containing a mixture of 32 to 58 parts by weight of a water-insoluble binding agent and 8 to 16 parts by weight of a water-soluble binding agent. The amount of pigment contained in the protective coating totals > 20 to 40 parts by weight including 15 to 30 parts by weight of bentonite in relation to its overall weight. All figures are based on dry weight and 100 parts by weight of the overall weight of the protective coating.
