Tri:phase emulsions for topical application

A composition (I) for making triphase emulsifiable formulations, especially for external topical use, comprises: (a) a liquid biphase system consisting of a lipophilic phase (LP) and a hydrophilic phase (HP); and (b) a separately stored powdered solid phase (SP) consisting of micronised cyclodextrin (CD) and silica. Also claimed are a 3-phase emulsifiable formulation obtained by contacting phases (a) and (b); and a combination of micronised CD, silica and optionally sugar.
