On being subjected to a pressure in excess of the set value, the pilot valve (4) generates a control pressure, causing the main valve (3) to open against spring action. The main valve can be of the two-union two-position type, having a control face acting in the opening direction and connected to a control pressure pipe in which the pilot valve is contained.
