The image system has a display monitor for visualisation of the diagnostic images supplied from an image memory (10) in which the image signals are held as a series of grey values for respective image points. The transformation circuit (11) converting the grey values into the display image for the monitor is coupled to a range selection circuit (13-18) with a processor, providing minimal and maximal values for the transformation of the grey values.
