The shaving head is tilted away from a middle position that lies between the first and second positions when the longhair cutter has been brought into its operating position. An electric shaving apparatus has: a housing; a shaving head that is freely movable between first and second positions; at least one upper blade and at least one lower blade working with it; a drive element driven by a motor that is coupled to the lower blade; and a longhair cutter which can be brought out of its rest position into an operating position in which it can be driven by the motor. The shaving head is tilted into a locking position when the longhair cutter finds itself in its operating position. This locking position lies further from the middle position than the first or second position. In this locking position, the drive element is uncoupled from the lower blade.
