The present invention provides a process for preparing a bit umen composition which comprises mixing at an elevated temperatur e an oxidised bitumen having a penetration index of at least 0 wi th a thermoplastic rubber which is present in an amount of less t han 5 % wt., based on total bitumen composition under the tempera ture from 160 to 220 DEG.C; bitumen compositions obtainable by su ch process; and the use of such bitumen compositions in asphalt m ixtures for road applications.
