CONNECTOR FOR FPC CONNECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for FPC(Flexible Printed Circuit) which can be engaged by a weak operating force, even if it has a low profile (low height) and a large number of cores (the number of contacts). SOLUTION: Many contacts 2 each of which has an almostΩ-shaped contact part 2a are fixed to an insulator 3 perpendicularly to the page space with a designated interval between. An almost V-shaped part 4a corresponding to the almostΩ-shaped contact part 2a is formed in an elastic cover 4. An almost V-shaped part 5a is formed as well in a FPC 5. First, the almost V-shaped part 5a of the FPC 5 is inserted in the almostΩ-shaped contact part 2a of each contact 2. If the almost V-shaped part 4a of the cover 4 is then inserted in the almost V-shaped part 5a of the FPC 5, it is put in an engaged condition. Under this condition, the FPC 5 is connected to the contact 2 by a contact pressure produced when the cover 4 is pressurized and warped by the almost V-shaped contact 2a.
