PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable radio equipment capable of improving the usability of a user by converting a telephone number read by a retrieval means to voice data and transmitting the converted voice data to a communication object. SOLUTION: In the case that a user informs a communicating party of a desired telephone number from a telephone book list registered inside his/her own portable telephone set 10, the user operates a rotary operator 21, displays a menu screen on a display part 14, selects the item of 'telephone number retrieval' and switches to a retrieval mode. Thus, the telephone book list is displayed on the display part 14 and the user selects a desired name and a corresponding telephone number from the telephone book list. Then, based on data for indicating the selected telephone number, numerical voice data corresponding to the telephone number are read from a ROM 35. As a result, the numerical voice data for indicating the telephone number are transmitted to the portable telephone set of the communicating party and numeral names are successively emitted from the speaker of the portable telephone set as voice.
