The system provides restricted access to a set of multimedia resources. The equipment provides potential multimedia access to a sub-assembly of terminals of a switched telephone network. It comprises an access server (1) capable of transmitting identification and switching data provided by a calling terminal (6) on the network to the sub-assembly of the network. The switching system includes a processor (2) managing and processing data, coupled to a set of multimedia boxes (5) and to at least one subscriber identification directory (4). The processor (2) transmits a signal (S) indicating the presence of communication data provided by the calling station (6), when the calling terminal has chosen a sub-assembly of terminals.
