The antilock braking system has a brake pedal (10), a brake fluid reservoir (33), a main cylinder, a pedal sensor (20) detecting the pressure acting on the pedal, a brake per wheel, a normally open solenoid valve at the inlet to the brake controlling the flow of hydraulic pressure to the brake, a normally closed solenoid valve at the brake outlet, a suction pump (41) connected to the hydraulic line connecting the fluid reservoir to the brakes, a motor (40) driving the suction pump and an electronic controller. The electronic controller controls the operation of the motor and pump in accordance with the brake pedal force sensor signal.
